Fumigation Day.

After getting myself all worked up about the exterminations happening in my building, I decided that it was stupid to sit there worrying about it and called the leasing office. After bitching to a few leasing agents, I got to talk to Barry, a new but wonderful office guy.

After listening patiently to my tirade, Barry explained that they weren't actually fumigating, or doing any major extermination at all. Evidently, they're doing what's called a "minor treatment." I don't know what that means, other than that they don't do any sort of bombing and the work is isolated to the kitchen and bathroom. Its supposed to be a "just in case," as there was an "outbreak" in a nearby unit. I was afraid to ask what there was an outbreak of. Because the treatment is isolated, we only need to be out of the apartment until mid-afternoon (not that it means nych for us) and Bella can just stay in the bedroom.

All information that I could have used earlier. Really, how hard would it have been to put that in the letter? The management of that building has the poorest communication skills of any business I've ever seen.

So, Bella is not at work with me today. I decided that it would be less traumatic for her to be shut in the bedroom all day than it would to be stuck in my office all day. (Seriously, though? Very cool to know I can bring her to work with me if I want.)

Currently, the contents of the kitchen cabinets and drawers are strewn all over the dining room and living room. All the canned goods and dry foods, the pots and pans, the clutter in the broom closet. Its pretty awful, and it expect it'll take a good long time to get it all put back. The bathroom in in similar shape, but I hadn't underestimated the chore of emptying those cabinets nearly as much as I underestimated what it'd take to clear the kitchen.

The counters and the sink still have stuff on and in them, and I hope that's okay. There just wasn't time to deal with that on top of everything else.
